In Memory of Another Dear Friend

Today my church family lost another dear friend, Carrie Smith Belair. She was an amazing women, with lots of spirit, spunk and originality. She's the person that asked all the questions everyone else was too shy or scared to ask in church. If you want to know what Carrie was like or who she was just read her blog. She started this blog as a journal and legacy for her boys. She had hope and faith that she could beat the cancer but also felt she needed to leave her boys a 'bit' of herself if things didn't work out. Carrie was adamant about expressing her journey as 'living with cancer' not 'dying from cancer'.

Well Carrie, my dear friend, now you can have all your questions answered. :) Too bad that you couldn't come back and let us know the answers. Thank you for being a part of my life; for giving me my baby Faith and for being a friend when I needed one. Thank you for being the courageous woman that you were and for inspiring others with your spirit and no nonsense approach to life. Thank you for being my sister in Christ. Thank you for being you! I love you and will miss you. Ride on...Rest in peace Carrie.
Here is a YouTube video Carrie made after friends from her church home group surprised her with a gift of taking her horseback riding. This is Carrie in a nut shell...open, honest, loving, spiritual...amazing.

I'm Ready

I've been taking part in a fast that my church and a couple of other churches in the city have organized. We agreed to give up something in our day and take that time to focus on our spiritual journey. During my time I've been listening to one of my favourite bands...Third Day. Their music really speaks to me, especially their new album Revelation. Here are a few songs that I particularly appreciate.

In Memory of a Dear Friend

Sadly, last week on January 2nd we lost our dear friend Suzanne Waddington (Suzie-Q). Her death was sudden and unexpected and has shocked all of us that knew and loved her. She is fondly remembered for her free spirit and zest for life. She was not afraid to be herself and had a wonderful sense of humour. Her quick wit and smart ass comments were sure to make you laugh. Suzie was always ready to give you a big hug. She was a Mom adored by her kids who miss her now terribly.

Suzie, I'll miss our talks, hearing you laugh and seeing you walk into church and give me a hug.

I'll be thinking of you this summer when I'm riding...we all know how much you loved the freedom to ride.

Rest in peace my friend, I love you.

We said Good-Bye to Mindy

It was a sad day on Monday December 29th when we said good-bye to our furry friend Mindy. Her illness was progressing and it was time to let her go. It's been a week and we miss her dearly. She always greeted us at the door and made sure we knew when it was bedtime and time to settle down. Her loving nature to care for us will be missed for some time. Faith looks for her from time to time and I think she misses her playmate.

Good bye Min Min you were a great companion.
